Remote Work Time Zone Compatibility Calculator

A time-zone difference matters only after it meets a real schedule. Choose the two named zones, local availability and required team window to see overlap and burden on a specific date.

Time zones and date
Your available hours
Required team window

Compare your local schedule with a team’s required hours using real IANA time zones, including half-hour offsets and DST awareness.

What the result shows

  • Direct overlap between your available hours and the team window
  • Hours of required availability outside your preferred schedule
  • The converted team window in your local time
  • A daylight-saving note when the selected date may not represent the whole year

Why named time zones matter

Fixed UTC offsets cannot reliably represent daylight-saving changes. The calculator uses browser-supported IANA zones and a selected date so regions with half-hour or quarter-hour offsets are not rounded away.

Use the result as a conversation

Ask whether the full window is required every day, whether overlap is seasonal and whether meetings can rotate. A difficult schedule may still be workable when expectations are narrow and predictable.

Common questions

Does this account for daylight-saving time?

It uses the selected date and IANA time-zone data supported by your browser. Because offsets can change during the year, test representative dates when daylight-saving rules matter.

What is a good amount of overlap?

There is no universal threshold. Compare the overlap with the role’s actual collaboration needs and whether shifted hours are occasional or daily.
