Remote vs Hybrid True Cost Calculator
A commute is not only fuel, and remote work is not free. Enter the recurring costs on both sides, see travel time separately and decide whether assigning money to time is appropriate for your comparison.

Compare annual cash costs and commute time across remote, hybrid and office schedules without hiding the assumptions.
What the calculator includes
Office-day costs include transport, parking, tolls or transit, meal and drink differences and other recurring commute costs. Annual office costs can include clothing or another work-location expense.
Remote costs include monthly internet or utility differences, coworking, supplies and annualized equipment. Travel time remains a separate result unless you deliberately choose to value it.
Core method
Annual office cost = office days per week × working weeks × cost per office day + annual office-specific costs.
Annual remote cost = monthly remote costs × 12 + equipment cost ÷ useful life.
Cash difference = annual office cost − annual remote cost. A positive number means the remote arrangement costs less under your inputs.
The calculator never silently converts commute time into money. Turn it on only when that comparison is useful to you.
Use the result carefully
This is a personal planning estimate, not a tax or reimbursement calculation. Replace every default, compare several office-day scenarios and consider non-financial factors separately.
Common questions
Does the calculator assume remote work is cheaper?
No. It calculates both sides from your inputs. Coworking, home-office and utility costs can make remote work more expensive in some situations.
Why is commute time separate?
Time has personal value, but converting it into money can create a false sense of precision. The optional time-value result is clearly separated.
