How the calculation works

Trace the full route from client to account

A payment can lose value in several places: processing, cross-border pricing, currency conversion, withdrawal, and intermediary or receiving-bank deductions. This calculator keeps each layer separate and editable.

Core formulaClient payment − processing costs − conversion cost − fixed deductions − optional reserve = estimated net payment

Use the exact costs shown for your route

Start with the percentage and fixed fee shown by the provider. Add an international surcharge only when it applies. Enter the estimated conversion cost separately because an exchange-rate margin can exist even when a provider advertises a low transfer fee.

Include costs outside the first provider

A withdrawal charge, intermediary-bank deduction, or receiving-bank fee can reduce the final amount. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau notes that recipients may receive less because of receiving-bank fees and foreign taxes.

Why conversion is separate

The World Bank describes total remittance cost as the transfer fee plus the exchange-rate margin. SolveNook therefore gives conversion its own editable field instead of hiding it inside a single fee. Review the World Bank’s cost definitions.

Work backward from a target

The reverse estimate applies the entered deductions in the opposite order to find the client payment needed for your target. It is a planning figure, not an invoice or guarantee.

Common questions

Does this calculator use Wise, Payoneer, PayPal, Stripe, or bank-transfer fees?

No. Every amount is editable so you can model the specific provider, currency, country, and payment route you are considering.

Why is currency conversion applied after processing?

This model assumes percentage and fixed processing charges are deducted first, then conversion applies to the remaining balance. If your provider uses a different order, compare the result with its exact quote.

Is the tax reserve my actual tax bill?

No. It is an optional planning reserve only. Tax rules depend on location and circumstances, so use current official guidance or professional advice.

Can the recipient receive less than this estimate?

Yes. Intermediary or receiving banks, foreign taxes, rate changes, minimum fees, and provider-specific rounding can change the final amount.
